See you Saturday.

Reminder: Before you set up your guitars on your display table, check underneath to make sure the locks on the legs are in the locked position. Remember when that table collapsed at the Portland show during set up because the legs weren't locked? The sound of those guitars hitting the floor was awful.

That was the late G D Armstrong's table. The unmistakable sound caused a group groan across the entire floor.

Thanks Jay,

Yes, that was a horrible sound especially since he had borrowed the instruments from clients for the show…!

That's right, I had forgotten that part. Ouch!

It was great to meet you, Michael.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the show

Hi Marcus,

It was great to meet you as well!

The festival: There were a lot of heavy hitters attending - many of my idols really! Most of the exhibitors were very welcoming and inclusive. It is very well run - Brent and his team kept us fed, caffeinated and happy! According to folks who had attended before, the turnout was a bit low - being an introvert, it seemed pretty packed to me!!

It was very valuable getting a better perspective on where my pricing should be. Frankly, I was told by other builders that I was about 40% below where I should have positioned my work - I made that change and nobody batted an eye. I received multiple inquiries for future work and even sold a guitar!

This morning we are off to Pacific Rim Tonewoods to check out their operation and will likely buy more wood!

Who’s going to be at the GAL conference?

Best, M

For those who exhibited - how many instruments did you take with you?

I took 4, but I’m only a half hour away. Fred Teller brought 6 , a gal from Italy brought one, she sold it, Bask guitars brought 6-7. Most folks brought 2-3.

Congrats on the sale (and possible future customers)! It's pretty rewarding when a respected peer tells you that your work is worth more than you are charging.

Congrats again!

PS. I'll probably be heading to GAL for a day
