OK folks....I thought I'd start up a little topic here to discuss this meeting!
What can I say- other than it's gonna be GREAT!

So pipe up with any questions or comments/suggestions, David's fine email and the nice webpages he has put up look to me to answer any questions (Bravo, David)...

He mentioned the "Open Mic" thing, and I will indeed try my best to manage that and if you plan to paticipate it would be nice to let me know so I can cover all the bases.

I'm so looking forward to it! I need a break to get out of town and see some of you!

While I am at it, I might as well post the link with all of the info that David put up -

I'm really psyched about this meeting and I'm definitely attending. I'd love to know who else will be there...so chime in with your intentions.

Many thanks to David and Mark for attending to all of the details. The pic of the Elks Lodge is sure impressive!

Hi All! The meeting is on, and email invitations were sent out a few days ago.

This meeting's going to be a bit different. Due to the high interest and large expected attendance, we've far exceeded the capacity of my shop. In efforts to avoid exceeding the capacity of the Elks Lodge as well, we've had to make this an invitation-only event. I sent email invitations to about 80 people so far, and tried to include everyone who expressed interest in the last meeting thread (though there were a few I didn't have email addresses for).

If you didn't get an invite and are interested in coming, email me and let me know. I may have to put you on the backup list for invitations, so please don't be offended. I'm just going to have to wait and see how many from the current list are planning to attend. If 40-50 of those already invited respond "yes", there might just not be any more room. If the attendance from the current list looks to be in the 30-40 range by mid September, then I may start extending invitations to the second list.

So, Please, do RSVP.

A simple Yes, probably, probably not, or no is all I need. Email me, call me, or post it right here. This will make my life much easier.

It's going to be big, yet still a fairly casual meeting. There are a lot of builders and techs I expect to see who are not members of this forum, but many of you probably already know. Should be a good time for all, personally and professionally.

I'll keep you posted -

David

I'll be there for sure. Mark, I've got a Genz-Benz acoustic amp and can bring it if needed for the open mic. See everyone there!

So I lied.......... :D sue me.........

This is going to be a fantastic event with a unique blend of professional information/presentation, and casual fun including some great music.

SKIN buddy you HAVE to sing for us and for those who have not heard Skin (James WB) sing he reminds me of Willy! [:Y:]

Mark Swanson made me a big fan at the last gathering and I can't wait to hear Mark sing and play again!

Also there will be prizes, door prizes and not the doors that I am removing from my shop building activities........

Does anyone have Carlton's email addy to share, privately please, with me? I want to send him an invite.

And Don buddy you are most certainly invited so if you can make it let David Collins know and we will send you the details.

I could reply to that in Australian Hesh, but I'd offend too many people and probably be banned from the forum. :D So you'll have to wait and cop a personal earful when I get there.

Looking forward to it as well gents and I'll be up for having a cackle at the open mic Mark.

Bob

Hey Brad,

You were on my "plan to invite" list, but I never got your email. If you want to email or PM me with it, I'll put you down as a yes.

----

To All,

Again, I'll be gone from tomorrow through labor day, and probably won't be near any internet or phone. I'm still open to other ideas or volunteers for other presentations/lectures. I'll be doing one, likely "notes to builders: a repairman's perspective". Beyond that, there have been ideas thrown about, but nothing really scheduled. I'm all ears.... What do you want? What can you offer? We'll likely only schedule another one or two topics, keeping most of the meeting casual. We may be fine already, but I'm always open to other suggestions.

There will be a good many professionals at the meeting who don't come to the forum, and there may be some volunteer presenters in that group. For new faces and for the experts who are often asked to present however, I'd rather not ask anything of. I would prefer to make this a responsibility-free gathering for most everyone, especially for new faces to the group.

So I'll check back after labor day, and probably send out 3-week and 1-week updates with other details before the meeting. Have a nice week folks!

Jim, Thank you sooooo much for this offer !! I am more than greatful. Dont know what to say but thanks a million. You need to know before though, If I make it there, the only possible way to go there is "over the weekend" there is no shorter trip, since otherwise it is seen as a business trip and they cost o fortune. so it would be like tuesday to mon. or maby the shortest would be like tuesday-sun, but I am not sure. Just wanted you to know that it would not be just over the night would this still be ok with you ??. I dont want to be a burdain on you.

Will check this coming week if it will be possible to get there !

Truly, Your friend, Lars.

Lars--

Detroit Wayne County is DTW, the main airport. Don't worry about staying a day or two. You'll have stories to tell when getting home about a 'Detroit' vacation! :D This will be a fun time!

Ahhh, this will indeed be a great time! David, I know that there is interedst in your fret-polishing and buffing set up, but since that will be at your shop maybe you won't be able to share that much....
But it looks like the open mic is much anticipated, and that is good thing! I would like to encourage any and all to brush up yer chops and get up for the tune or two, the more variety we get, the better! I'll have a sign-up sheet for that and we'll go right on down the list and make sure everyone gets a turn.
Lance, the Marshall half-stack would be great too but you MUST have the appropriate hair to plug into it.
Jim, if it isn't too much trouble it might be nice to have that amp too, but depending on the PA we will have I am not sure if we'll need it or not.

I'm so excited! bliss

To you all and to you Jim who so kindly offered me a place to stay "for this I am honored" and if any of you ever get to Sweden, you sure have a place to stay to.
I am sooooo sadened that I cannot come ! I was really really planning to go, checkt for tickets etc. checkt with my studies and all, BUT I thought there were money coming in, that never did, thought I would have more left over after getting the woods and equipment needed for my build. I will be there in spirit though :P and I wish you all the best of time. BUT I WILL attend the next one, thats a promise.
I am not sure how you guys will manage without me !! but i guess you will find a way Eat Drink hahaha. Again, wish you all the best.

Your friend Lars.
