I just wanted to say hello to my fellow Michigan luthiers. I'm new to this forum. I've been on the MIMf for a number of years now, and there is a lot of good people on there (I see some of them are here too!), but I'm glad to see a specific Michigan luthier's corner set up here.
I'm still pretty green when it comes to lutherie with only one kit and one scratch build under my belt so far. I currently live in an apartment in Rochester Hills so I don't have a shop, unfortunately. The two things I built were done at my mother's house. I'm hoping I might be able to gain access to some shop time at Bloomfield Schools. I just got a new job there. In the meantime, I'll keep reading and learning...

Welcome Mark! You have an OLF neighbor/builder in Rochester Hills, Mike Franks. Maybe you've already met? At any rate, welcome and enjoy the show!

Hello Mark and welcome! There are a few of us in fairly close proximity to you. I am located in the NE quadrant of Troy, just down the road from Roch. Hills. You have embarked on a wonderful and enriching journey which will be filled with many ups and downs but the great reward is listening one of your own instruments sing when you have it off the bench.

Thanks guys. I haven't met any other luthiers yet, but hope to at some point. I wrote a blog documenting my first build, http://neowalla.webs.com/apps/blog/
She's definitely got some warts, but she sounds pretty nice.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the forum from another Michigan luthier! I've been on this forum for 5 years and canb't begin to recount all the great help from some of the most generous people in the world. I think you're going to have fun.

Best regards,
Max

Thanks to everyone for the welcome! Fred, I would like to come out on the 7th, but I will have to wait and see. My son is due to be born the 14th so I can't commit to much of anything at this point! I definitely want to get together and meet some of the other local luthiers though so I will keep an eye on this forum for future meetings.

Mark
