That is certainly an interesting bracing design, for both the top and back. I'm looking forward to hearing how it sounds. |

I finished gluing on the back braces, notched the rims for the top and back ,and routed the endgraft...having fun and surprising myself on how fast this is coming along!!! |

got some work done on the necks...I used Cumpiano's method to cut the tenon with a table saw angling the blade 5 degrees to cut the "cheekbone" |

Wes, it looks like it's coming together nicely. So this is going to be a double neck? I see that you have used the bracing system for a live back. According to Trever Gore's book, the back needs to come out 4 semitones above the top but you need to control the top and back thicknesses to have a good chance of reaching that goal. That's where I'm having trouble. I'm trying to find the frequencies of the back and top by tapping with a mic and using the Audacity software analysis routine but I end up with results that are all over the map and they just aren't usable. Unless I can find a better way to do it, I'll just use deflection on the top and my best guess on the back. Can you share what you've done to figure out what the back and top thickness should be? |

Awesome build, Wes! What size roundover bit are you using? |

open plate tunings were 2 semitones apart + or - I don't have the info on front of me now, going off of memory but I will turn 57 next week and just got back from my favorite sports bar watching the Cowboys kick some butt on the Giants, so take it for what its worth ...the round over bit is a 2 1/2 , works good just take off a little at a time |

sorry to not have posted in awhile...thought I would try Sherwin Williams varnish , first time using varnish and I made a big mistake and tried to brush on the varnish so I had to sand It off and spray it !! brush thing just didn't work for me but spraying is going well. A couple more coats then level then a couple more after that...hopefully will be done by the end of the month.. |

I knew I got the spirals-in-the-rosette idea from somewhere (at least sub-consciously). I like yours better. Nice work. |
