Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm scheduled to have power in my shop in two weeks, so I should be good to go pretty soon.
Here's some shots of the completed neck. It's got a seal coat of shellac that will be sanded/scraped off before the TruOil.

There is power in my shop! I still need to add a couple of 20 amp circuits and wiring from the box to the tools, but I've got a 50 amp box in the shop.
There's still a lot of rearranging to be done, so it will be a while longer until I can get back to this...

Glad to hear you are up and running again. The good news is that you got the house sold and into the new house without significant incident.

Thanks

Guitar construction is still at a standstill. The shop has power, all the lights and outlets are wired up, and all that's left is some more ducting for the dust collector. Unfortunately, we got rid of the dishwasher to make room for more cabinets in the kitchen, and guess who's building them. I should have known there was a catch when my wife was interested in getting power to my shop. With any luck, I'll finish up the cabinet work this weekend, and maybe I'll get back to guitars.

Rodger, I feel your pain. Spent the better part of 5 years doing house remodel projects and very little guitar work. However, it did legitimize my shop in my wife's eyes, I think. Anytime anything breaks she gives it to me to "take it to the shop" where, apparently, some magic will take place and it will return repaired or rebuilt ;)

At least you have your shop up and running.

Yep. That's exactly it. We have our squad of elves secretly fixing stuff out in the shop.

And they fix stuff faster than my kids break it. ;) ;)

One of my strategies is to build a little bit every night. Even if it's only 15 minutes, it's a little time and I can make some progress on something.

My elves never could keep up with the kids breakage rate.

I've gotten a little one here and there, the top braced, the back braced, and the box is closed.

A little binding and it will be ready for finish.

I usually have at least two under construction, so I keep all the parts for each one in separate boxes.
I guess all of mine are "instant guitars", just add woodworking. bliss

After looking at the closed box for a couple of days, I decided there was something wrong with the way the back fit. oops_sign
Long story short, the top and back are off, and the back is waiting on new braces.
I've got a lot of other things going on, so I may not be able to get this finished before the deadline, but I'm not giving up.

That's a drag. Murphy is always lurking.
