Ok so there has been some interest in some drill bushings for fixtures and such, but $10-$15 is a little high to pay for them. I am going to make some up out of stainless. They will not be hardened and they will not be precision ground, but for the low production atmosphere of building guitars they should last for a very long time. They will have an outside diameter of .250" and a length of .225". The inside diameter will be 1/8" or 3/32". I can do both easily so I'll make some of each. I'm not going to be making a profit on these. I'm just doing this to help out fellow luthiers as a thank you for all the great advise that I've gotten through this forum. I'm goin to leave this open for one week and then I'm going to make them. Ill be charging $1 a piece to cover my tooling cost and I'm asking you to pay shipping. If the quantity gets over 50 pcs I can drop the cost to 75¢.

If you are interested state the quantity you would like and if you want 1/8" ID or 3/32" ID

UPDATE: more than 50 have been asked for. Therefore the price is 75¢ a piece (plus shipping)

Filippo, I'm going to run the strings through them, like sizzles on a cymbal.

I'm assuming putting them in templates and using them to drill locator pin holes??

I'd take 10. Seems like a good investment even though I don't have immediate use for them.

I'd love to see that when it's done.

I'll take (edited...). Whichever size you decide to make, but I'd prefer 1/8" if there's a choice.

Thanks for doing this!

Edit: change that to 3 dozen.....

Ok i didn't realize the demand for this was so much. On James' thread it seemed like 50 pcs was more than enough. That said I got about three times that many to make. I gotta ask for no more orders till I get a check on how much scrap stock I have. I should find out soon and I'll let every one know how many more I can make. Thanks for the enthusiasm guys :)

I have a steel lathe and can make my own, so if my "order" means someone who doesn't have the means to make his/her own can't have any, then by all means, give them mine.

I honestly hadn't thought of making drill bushings from solid rod on the lathe, but it's a great idea. So, let me know if you can pass mine on to someone else(or ease your load) and I'll make my own.

I'm going to subscribe to this thread so when you decide you can take more orders, I'll get 6 of each size. Thanks, Zeke

As Beth did, I'm replying to the thread so that if and when you decide you can make more, you'll know that I'd appreciate 6 of each size. Thanks so much.

I'm going to try to run these next week sometime. I'll run all the rod I have and when I'm done I'll subtract all the orders that have been placed and then put the balance on here for anyone else who wants some to claim.

Zeke, if you do happen to have some extras after your production run I'd take 6-10 in both 1/8" and 3/32". I'm sure me being a fellow Gateway Luthier member has some pull in your shop...:) Just kidding! Just let me know when you get everything squared away if there are any extras in either size left to be had.

Thanks,

Brad
