I simply do not have the skill to cut this thing by hand. one day maybe, but today is not that day. Tomorrow is not looking good either.
Beth, Andy addressed your question, but I do plan to press them in to avoid any unnecessary chippage of the abalone.

I finished this guitar in a major rush because the owner wanted it for his sister's wedding, so I did not document much of the remaining steps, but here are a few pics. I will take some glamor shots soon. Hope these suffice for now:

Thanks again to Andy Birko for coming through in a big way with the fret board inlay at the last minute, and also for donating the fretboard and bridge. There are others who need thanking, like Robert H. who donated the binding, TexasUke who donated the tuners, and others, but I need to go through my PMs to get all the names. I am very grateful for the help I received with parts for this guitar. It helped defray the costs and made it possible for me to not mond giving away such a nice set of wood. The owner should be pretty pleased as well. Thanks everyone!
More pics to come.

Kudos to you, Tony, and all who helped! [clap] [:Y:] [clap] Don't forget to get some pictures with the proud owner!
Disaster sometimes brings out the best in people, Tony, and not just the guitar, but the help you gave cleaning up, as well!

Alex

Good job Tony and everyone else who pitched in. I hope we get to see pics of it with the owner (video would be even better).

Thanks guys. There will be video and pics with the owner.

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, the guitar is balanced with good bass and trebles and all of the other stuff we all say about our guitars! laughing6-hehe

Looks great man! Has he seen it or played it yet? I imagine he's going to be thrilled. Get some video when he gets it.

Not yet. He has promised to make a video when he plays at the wedding. He has not seen the fret board yet. I keep letting little bits of it peek in the pics I send him, but never more than half of the C or O. He is going nuts because he wants to see it!

Good to know! This morning I saw pics on Tony's face book page and noticed that one of the commenters' last name matched the Fretboard. I typed out a comment saying "Hey *guy's first name*, your last name is spelled almost exactly like the one inlaid on the fretboard." I figured this would give Tony a heart attack. Then at the last moment, I deleted it just in case the FB inlay was a surprise. . . I'd hate to be the DB spoiler!
