Gotta agree with the others, that's some killer design work, Jonathan! Very Kraut-esque.

I made a parchment rose for my challenge build. Or rather, paper rose, since I didn't have any parchment lying around.

Now I need to get my shop reassembled after changing rooms in the house, so I can actually finish the woodworking part before the time's up eek

Hey Kevin, how about some finished pix?

First I need to thank you, Robbie, for your detailed Les Paul build thread that you did hear on the OLF. I couldn't have done it without the detailed information that you took the time to gather & share with us. Thanks a thousand times over! [:Y:]

Second I want to thank Freeman Keller who also did a Les Paul build that was documented on Harmony Central. Freeman is the reason & decided to attempt guitar building in the first place.

And of course, thanks to everyone else who took the time to answer my questions along the way.

Ok, here are some pics. The rear cavity covers are stock Gibson, I'll make some better fitted ones later.

Hey Kevin, glad you found something of use in my little LP build thread.
Your LP looks amazing!
Thanks for posting these.
I am a sucker for quilted maple, and yours is top-notch.
I bet it plays and sounds as good as it looks!

Is a parchment rose purley for decoration or does it affect the sound too?

Thanks Ed.

It should have a pretty significant effect, I think. Somewhat similar to a tornavoz plus a screen over the soundhole, I'd assume. This is my first one so I'll let you know. It is removable, so I can test with and without it.

Of course, the particular patterns cut in it are purely decorative. You could get the same effect much more easily using a paper punch
