Wud should definitely be in line for his own reward!!

But I'm sure we'll all have our own opportunities, like my too-deeply scooped solera.

I strung up a comission late last week. I was playing it a few minutes ago and decided the truss rod needed a tweak. I stuck my wrench through the soundhole, and UTB to adjust it. I discovered I didn't drill/route the neck block for access. Yep, it's a glued in dovetail. I'll be removing the neck tomorrow.

Well WudWerker,
I might have to agree with Jim_H. Between Dads computer and LaurieW, you might want to shoot for one more and make it a turkey... [clap] .. That’s it, if you make a turkey of it - you have 19 days to go. [:Y:] I will send you some Wild Turkey 101...Am I even allowed to mail that? idunno

Oh no Woodrow oops_sign

I was gluing binding on last night and got a little carried away with the thin CA and didn't realize a little had dribbled down the side... and under the guitar (which was face down) When I went to pick it up, the whole workbench tried to come along.

whoops.

Thank goodness Acetone melts the stuff.

Hey!
I might be in the running here this month!
I installed a rosette,
I used the Wells rig,
and the outer edges had 1 small chip out.
So, easy fix, right?
Used a .055" bit to put some black fibre as a border.
Carefully set up the depth,
tightened the bit in there pretty tight
(1/8" shank with an adapter to 1/4"),
spun it around the rose,
pulled it off the top, and what do you know,
the bit dove in through the top for about 3/4 of the rose.
I put a nice soundhole donut under it,
but the kicker is the rosette has more chip outs than before!
Luckily it's a small instrument (phin),
the material didn't cost but a few bucks,
and I have more of it.
Time to make another top!
Oh, this happened on Friday the 13th,
so maybe I'm off da hook!

Ouch! Not quite prize worthy material, I think, but still sounds frustrating. Any idea why it's chipping? What sort of bit are you using? Spiral downcut works great for me. Haven't chipped a top yet, although it does leave a few fuzzies. Giving it a coat of shellac first helps a bit with that.

This likely doesn't qualify, but I thought in the spirit of giving I should share this.
Yesterday morning I was going downstairs to my shop to get a pad and tape measure
for a job I am doing. Took one step, and stepped on one of our kittens. I pulled up, and took
the next for steps at once, slammed my knee, elbow into the basement door while jamming my right
leg and everything that it is connected to as well. wow7-eyes I spent the next ten minutes trying
to find Jackie to make sure she was OK. I didn't realize until today that it was Friday 13th, and Jackie is a black cat
that kinda crossed my path! laughing6-hehe The cat is fine. I took a couple of Celebrex, and went to
my chiropracter. The job I was going to is the vet clinic that my wife works at - thats why we have a
crap-load of cats. :D

Here are a couple of shots.
I think as the bit was coming out,
it started wobbling around.
Thanks for reminding me about the shellac, Dennis.
I keep forgetting to do that!
duh
I am going to try to find a good circle cutter to make a safety
score first.
Anybody know where to get one?

I attended my grandfather's funeral on Friday the 13th... somehow they chose that date on purpose.

Sorry, Tai.
That hurts even when you know it's coming.
Jim, will you never learn?
Tell us that you were trying to get more bass, and treble
by doing that!

He's 96 years old, so its pretty much time. I think he died about 2 years ago because the whole time he's just lying in bed having to be attended to by a caretaker for all of his needs. The worst part for me is having to endure all the traditions and superstitions of a Chinese funeral. You think Catholic tradition is bad, wait til you experience Chinese traditions...
