I built my first out of QS White Oak...very "working friendly" wood, bends great, and it sounds great! My friend John Arnold, a renowned luthier from near me (and a member here), built the most beautiful white oak guitar I've ever seen (wish he'd post some pics). He dyed it (told me what he used but my old-arse memory has forgotten) really dark and I actually asked him if it was some of his BRW?!?! Great job on your build! Wish my build had the detail, but, hey, it was my first! And it still is my "player"!!! Thanks for posting - more appreciation for domestic woods!!!

Thanks for all the compliments. I normally use material from the back on the heel. I like the look too. I'm secretly hoping to start a trend where we would add recordings when we post pictures of our latest builds. bliss Clinton
