Hey Peter,
I love this one and that Brazilian -- insane!!!.

A couple thoughts as I have been in the midst of significant aesthetic changes to my instruments over the past 6 months (I will be updating my site in a few more months with the first of my "new" designs). In other words, I have been focusing on refining aesthetics lately. I really like the classical style soundhole fretboard termination with the bound fretboard above all other styles. I think this looks great when the fretboard binding is the same species and grain as the fretboard - so that the purfling is highly noticeable (like you've done on this guitar). Anyway, I think that style would work beautifully with your instruments and you might try it just once and see if you like it. A second consideration is tuners - I have really fallen in love with Keith Robson tuners. They are expensive but on a special guitar like this it might be worth thinking about.

I especially love the execution and design of the rosette - absolutely exquisite. The binding/purfling/bevel are exceptional and the wood choices are perfect. I REALLY love how this instrument looks. Very, very well done!!!

Simon my friend, thank you for you comments. I appreciate the feedback. I know you have high standards and know how much goes into an instrument with so much detail. Do keep me posted, I'd love to see your new models!

I am working on a few new thinks myself but as always I have to much going on and not enough time....

I am amazed. To a degree that does not often occur. Beautiffull!

What number is this one?...for a little perspective.

Can't really remember right now without looking at the label but its either number 47 or 48.

thank you!

Awesome looking guitar Peter! I like this one a lot.

I like the way you took the neck lams down through the heel. Outstanding!

Peter, beautiful guitar! As a pipe maker, I have to say that the lines are apparently perfect. Something for us all to aspire to!

Although I appreciate them greatly, I generally don't like "fancy" or very ornate guitars. But something about this guitar retains a grand sense of the "organic". Coupled with the decorations and details, this is really a work of art. I would love to hear it. Got any sound clips?

Let me just say this:

"Want....want...want....drool....gasp....want....want....WANT!"

Seems to me that pretty much sums it up for everyone. It certainly sums it up for me. My hat is off to you, sir.

It's all been said, but... beautiful. Very, very nice work.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Peter,

I just want to say that using zipflex (I am assuming it is) with a redwood top has always been a great pairing.... however you did something that really blew me away. The rosette color is perfect (my opinion) for this guitar. The width of the center ring is a perfect balance for the entire rosette. Not too heavy - not too thin. The entire top of this guitar is just a wonderful statement of color and texture. Bravo! [clap] [clap] [clap]

Your execution is near perfection - and I love almost everything about this guitar. I'm still trying to get used to those white knobs on the tuners. :D

Now - for one of the subtle things that I love. The extra 2 lams in the neck. I love the dark wood between the hog and maple lams - it ties in so well with the ebony binding. Again - Bravo!

And now for my technical question about the fingerboard. Did you cut a purfling-type ledge on the fingerboard for the Zipflex and then bind the outside with matching fb wood?

GREAT build!

Another stunning work of art Bro! I can't wait to get back out to the shop and finish the one I currently have on the bench now, your work always inspires. Been busy all summer remodeling the inside of the house, but after seeing this, I'm gonna have to pick up the pace and finish that project to return to what I love!!!

Thanks everyone!

Paul, the fretboard is one piece with the channel for the shell routed out. Its not Zipflez, just thin shell pieces.

Very nice Peter. What jumps out at me the most is the beautiful grain of the redwood top. A nice piece of redwood is stunning on a guitar and I especially like the ones with some dark areas like this one.
