I think that price is a typo. If you look at the can that is pictured, it has a wire loop handle like a 3.78l paint can.

Yes that is a typo, and the cans are 3.78l (I've bought from them in the past). I was in there a couple weeks ago and I think the sticker price on the cans was $70. I may be wrong.

goudey in toronto sells lacquer.
Unicorn universal woods may still be around. they have been specializing in flooring for a long time now, but 5 years ago when I was there there had a spply of alpine spruce & EIR which I believe has been around for decades. Unfortunately he is a hard one to get on the phone?

I'll be in The Big Smoke next week; would a stop at Unicorn be a worthy side-trip? I've heard of them, but never been there, nor dealt with them.

Anything happening in Toronto on Monday evening?

Like I say he is hard to get a hold of. It's been a few years for me since I was last there. If you can't get a response but are just too curious. I once went out there & found an unlocked door to the warehouse where there were a bunch of guys & I asked em if I could take a look. I did & eventually the main guy came out & we talked. I didn't buy anything at the time. I always wanted to go back with one of the local builders who knew their stuff more than I did but it never happened.
good luck

Unicorn is long gone .. went bankrupt a couple years ago, all their remaining stuff went up for auction ... there was some really old flitch cut coco logs and some brw pieces (like 25-30 yrs old or more) that was bought by a local dealer, and then some of that ended up in a top secret location known only to me ....

Fred Tellier set me on to these guys out West (where I am).

http://www.roytonewood.com/

I've not purchased from them yet but I sure will when I'm in the market for some sinker cedar or sitka!

Anyone heard anything or dealt recently with Highmountain? I'm down to one last 4A set of Lutz purchased from Shane and would like to restock. I've not heard HM mentioned on OLF for ages and the website now seems sparse. Wondered if others have made recent purchases.

I purchased some brace wood from them in the summer. It took them a couple days to respond to my initial inquiry but after that it was a great transaction. Prompt shipping and delivery.

While I've not purchased from Dave yet, I've been following him on FaceBook for some time now. He's always posting new wood sets he's getting in and I've got to say, it's looking very impressive. Might be the go to Canadian supplier for exotics, cedar (lots of sinker) and engelmann.
