The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Way to go Lance .. its been a trip !!!

Active members, members that only read, non members that only read. It does not matter to me. I look at the OLF as both a community and a resource. Both being very important parts. The numbers say that we have a LOT of readers/visitors.

Congratulations to Lance and the OLF community. I've been here almost 6 years now and cannot begin to describe how invaluable the OLF has been to me with the wealth of knowledge and patience that exists among its members who are so willing to share. Admittedly, thus far in my journey I am more of a receiver than giver but I suspect most here were in the same position once upon a time. My turn will come and I too will be openly sharing what knowledge the OLF helped me acquire. And I'll be glad the OLF will be there to foster that. Continued success!

Good job my friend. Not many of us originals from day one around anymore. Like Don said, makes me feel old. But then I am, so guess it works out OK.
