Thanks so much for taking the time to reply with details and all the photos. It's much appreciated. Beautiful work too. I hope my miter joints come out that nice.

You are very welcome. Two things I should have covered for you:
1. When gluing the purfling put your guitar in a Troji like holder and always glue uphill - move the guitar and position it so that any glue that runs, runs over already glued area not into an area you are not holding down with pressure. If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I will try to get a picture.
2. Miters are cut before the purfling is glued. I use a fourmost razor miter to cut the miters in the purfling. You can get them on ebay. Photo below :

Michael - Here are a couple photos as follow up. I bent the side purfling for each side sandwiched between the binding strips for each side using my hot pipe. Worked great. I glued the side purfling in first with CA and then installed the binding and top/bottom purfling as usual. I had no problems keeping the side purfling flat in the binding channel. I'm happy with how it came out for the first try at side purfling with mitered joints. I have a pipe clamp setup on the side of my bench that's like a Troji so I used that. Your tip about gluing uphill was a huge help. It was good to know that from the get go instead of figuring it out the hard way.
