The material Martin uses for its cheap guitars, Richlite, is made in a dark blue color. It would be more wear resistant than Corian.

I still do this although I've been "retiring" for several years. I recently shipped over 500 bass boards to a client. Unfortunately, it's not cost productive to process one offs. This link is to a photo of a blue dyed infused maple burl bass top and board. I add dye to the impregnating resin so it's thru and thru.

I seem to remember a conversation I read once that concluded fretboard wear was mostly caused by fingernails rather than strings. I could be making that up, but if not, she might wear through faster.

Stabilizing sounds like the best idea to me if it will glue to stuff. I've only ever turned it. If you can't find a source, it's not that hard to do yourself if you've got a vacuum pump. Now that I've said that, I guess I only ever did it to fill and stabilize punky wood, not to saturate good wood. Perhaps my experience does not apply here.
