Chris - thanks for the invaluable tip about masking tape and CA. I tried it and it is great. I think this is going to change my life! (no, seriously!)
Would it be better with standard beige masking tape, rather than the blue or green painter's tape? My understanding is that the painter's tape has lower adhesion so that it doesn't damage painted surfaces when it is removed, but in this application we want it to grip hard.

mcgr40 in the previous post has tried it with blue tape and says it works fine. I think it depends on your application - for raw hardwood I'd use the beige tape because it's thinner, sticks firmer and is cheaper. On finish I'd try the blue tape first.

No idea who invented this - I found it from the Crimson Guitars video who got it from someone else - but it is, in a small way, life changing!

It is impressive that a thread on tape can last so long. I remember the pencil threads. Ah, those were the days. Just used my Lowes carpet tape to secure a finger board to the Luthier Suppliers (sponsor) radiusing jig. Needed an act of congress to release. Btw, that jig is awesome!!

This is one of the best tricks, ever!

Related: I'm using powdercoating tape for a whole lotta things, lately...
