Very inspiring. That sondport sure is the tail wagging the dog, isn't it! Maybe you could inlay a mirror as well so the player can watch himself too.

(Said tongue in cheek. I'm sure there are good reasons for that configuration other than the relative importance of the player to the audience! Just brings Miles Davis to mind turning his back on the crowd.)

Everyone seems to be confused on the "sound port" of the guitar design. The primary soundhole is actually the one on the side. The sound port is the one on the front. You'd be amazed in how it sounds to the player, and the projection from the listeners position is no different than a standard guitar design. The reason for moving the soundhole to the side was not so that the listener can hear the self better (although they can), but rather to allow for a larger sound generating area on the soundboard. My first prototype of the "Da Vinci" model didn't have the second smaller hole on the top, but I foind that there was a lack of forward projection, so I added the second sound port to the front.

I appreciate all the kind words!

Truly inspiring! Thanks for sharing, and yes, how about a sound clip? Please?

Pretty Please!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
