Here's the mould I did. I wasn't able to do it yesterday like I thought because a storm came through, so I was either marooned out in the shop or in the house. I chose the latter. I was able to complete it today but wasn't able to incorporate some of the new things I wanted to. The middle bit was going to be made out of little bits of wood from offcuts that were made from cutting out the other two bits. That was going to save me some wood. It took so long to get those buggers to fit and it started to look so sloppy I just gave up and went conventional. The other thing I was going to do was make the lil slot at the end like I usually do to add compression to make the sides fit tighter, giving me some cleaner glue joints. It still needs a bit of sanding, but I'm liking the result anyway. It's for a uke.

Hey Fred, how 'bout a shot of that troji in action??

Here is the Troji, built in the style of the plans Rod True published

I got a coat of Z-poxy on the Quilted African Mahogany back and sides of the Fan Fret Jumbo so included a couple pictures of it. The epoxy really brought out the character of the wood.

Just playing with the new camera. If I get any more detail with this thing I won't ever sell any guitars. :)

Hi Pat....that's a Canon EOS Rebel T3...I believe the 12.8 megapixel version. I used a lotta wattage on the shot...but I'll try turning some of the lights off and see what happens. :) I'm wondering if there is a prefered type of light to use for composed shots like this without flash. There's lots of disinformation of the internet and I'm a newbie with a camera.

btw....Doc Mike said he was going to move to Arizona this summer...did he or is he still around?

Never ceases to amaze me, the quality of the work you all do. I'm getting close to finishing this Flamenco guitar. It will be my first French Polish attempt.

Oh-boy I wish I had the first one of those back. I'm so much better at it 5 guitars later

Stu,

Mike's still around, saw him at the last meeting.

For starters, keep the number of light sources to a minimum, like two—main and fill—three if you're trying to eliminate shadows on a backdrop. I get results I like with softer light, like from CFLs. The best lighting info I've found in 20 years of dabbling in photography is "Light: Science and Magic." Not a how-to per se, but about how light works.
