He said he has 3000 sets on the go with this final round - the HMTW "Swan Song"....
Should be enough to go around... :-)

Shane,
Okay, I'll take at least a 12-pack and one order of bracewood. Any chance you would do an 18-pack at the bulk rate? I'll be sharing this order with one or two other guys. I'm not sure yet whether they want any bracewood or not.

If it factors in your decision on the a 18-pack, I'm in the 98155 Zip code.

Thanks,

Shane,

If you are taking orders I would take a 12 pack and an order of brace wood. I am in the 98177 zip.

Let me know and I can complete the order when you are ready,

Hi Shane

"I will also be able to sell single sets at the following prices: 2A - $30, 3A - $65." If this is still the case, please put me down for two 3A sets. I still have bracewood and 2 other sets from my last order, but I would really like to have 2 more in reserve. If it matters at this point, m zip is 94110.

Best,

Tim

I just want one really really good set for a guitar I'm building for myself. I could choose any topwood... but really Shane's Lutz is the top of the heap people. It's that good.

OK, I just pulled the first few sets off the drying rack and packaged some up so I could get the shipping costs. I should also add that a lot of people have asked for bracewood. The cost of bracewood is $2.25 per inch of width and I want to sell bracewood in 8.5" increments as that way they will pack best with the tops. It takes about 4" of bracewood for one guitar. Anyways back to shipping. The costs to ship one box of 12 sets is as follows:

Oh ya, I just quickly sanded a couple of sets and they look on grade to me! The boxes will be better than 2A up to 3A.

In the USA
- West to the Montana/New Mexico Line - $38
- The Montana/New Mexico Line to the western Minnesota/Louisiana Line - $42
- Everything east of the western Minnesota/Louisiana Line - $44

Great Britain

$91 by ground, $170 by air (8 weeks vs 8 days)

Australia

$99 by ground, $180 by air (8 weeks vs 8 days)

Canada

Maritimes - $27
Manitoba thru Quebec - $25
Alberta and Sask - $21
BC - $18

For payment I accept paypal to shane@highmountaintonewood.com or I can process Visa and MC. If in Canada e-transfer is the very best to this same e-mail address.

Thanks
Shane

Hi Shane,

Does that mean shipping to Quebec is about 25$?

One box of 12 tops shipped to Quebec would be $25 for shipping. Your bracewood will add a bit to the shipping charge Alain. And we as Canadians also get the privilege of good old 5% GST. YIPPEEEE!

Thanks
Shane

Hi Shane, how do you differentiate between 2A and 3A? Is it just cosmetic?

Also do you/will you have any 1A grade sets? I need some spruce for laminations that won't need to look good, and the occasional pitch pocket etc is OK. Thanks!

Hi James,
The difference between 2A and 3A can be cosmetic (wider grain area, knot shadow, etc) and it can also be that they are not as well quartered. Having said that I have shipped lots of 2A sets to some fairly prominent makers. I will have some sets that will make your lamination's requirements as well. 12 of them for $100.

Thanks
Shane

Paypal sent for box of 12 + lots of bracewood.
Now the wait,+ 8 weeks shipping to UK.
I'll be a nervous wreck - if I survive telling my better half.....

(Update) - Survived. Minimum reaction. Obviously didn't order enough...

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Shane,
I'll respond to your PM as well, but please update my order to include 2 of your 12-set packages and 4 of your 8.5" sticks of bracewood (34" total). By my count that's $1000 for tops and $76.50 for bracewood. Please let me know the total for shipping all this to 98155 and I'll get you paid pronto.

Thanks!
