Hello all,
There have been a few posts about binding cutting jigs and I wanted to share mine. I have tried several methods and overall have found this one to work the best for me. It should look familiar to most of you, with one difference. Mine has shims instead of a screw type adjustment. I like this because I can change from one setting to another by just remembering the number of shims to take out or put in. I also fine tune it by putting a piece of brown binding tape over the surface that rides against the side. I wish I had a picture of how I use it, because I don't use it with the guitar laying flat on the work table. I'll try to describe it: I put a thick piece of foam on the bench, with one end of the body against the foam. I raise the other end of the body, cradling it between my upper chest and arms and use my hands to route the edge. I do this so I can see light between the riding edge and the body. If there is light, then I'm tilting the jig toward the top (a no-no with this type of jig). I obviously do one side at a time. This may sound like a wrestling match, but oh well, it works for me.. my binding fits.

Nice design, The radiused guide appears to be made of aluminum. besure to keep the guide polished and burr free. That is the only dislike I see. Tha tand the added friction of a non rotating guide. OUt side of that I like the Idea of shims if useing binding and purfling stock you can trust dimensions on.

Thanks for the comments. Steve, I just ordered alum stock from McMaster Carr and cut it up on a table saw with an old Freud thin kerf blade and then routed the edges with an old round over bit. Sanded the rough edges on the belt sander. Everything is held together with tapped screws. I chunked the blade and router bit when I got done.

No noise in the shop that day, right?
Surprised we didn't hear all that down here!
