LMI lists fine Menzerna compound as ivory, and very fine as slight olive.

Stew-Mac lists fine Menzerna as brownish ivory, with very fine being ivory.

Which is which?

The compound that LMI calls extra fine is (greenish) is a grade step between fine and finest. so what is happening is Stewmac is calling extra fine (ivory) what LMI is calling finest (ivory). Stewmac just is not carring the extra fine (greenish)

I can't tell the difference a lot of times based on color, they all look so close. But, I did notice that the product number will help you keep them straight as to which one is which. After I got mine in the mail I took a sharpie and wrote med, fine, extra fine on the cardboard because once you start using them, I had a tough time distinguishing the difference.

I can tell by feel. ther is a major difference in grit between med cource and fine and enough difference between fine and finest. But I too mark the covering for quick ID. I don't use the green (extra fine). No reason I just never have.
