Well, I was winding up on my guitar this evening. Had all strings on it and was about to finish filing the nut slots when I decided to sit down for a minute and sit back and look at my accomplishment and what did i see? The photo speaks better than me. I laminated a thin (-1/8) piece of ebony to my bridge blank (with epoxy.....that I bought at Ace Hardware.....)
As you can see it delaminated itself.
So my own thoughts are I'll just clen the epoxy residue off and reglue with???? I'm thinking of HHG.....Do yall think that will hold are should I go another route?

Jeff, Hot hide glue would be a very good way to go. Just warm the parts a little, it'll help.
Also, it looks like the joint was starved, it's easy to over clamp with epoxy.
Interesting looking instrument BTW, where's the sound hole? I assume in the side somewhere.

Thanks for giving me your input.....This is my second build and I have the top covered up with a thin piece of plastic so I want beat n bang all over it while it is being set-up.
I just got back from the shop and glued it back together with HHG. What you see in the photo is after I done cleaned the epoxy residue off each piece.

On bridge and headstock repair I use cascamite a powdered epoxy which is non reversible though, but it takes 6 hrs to set so you have a long open time.

A bridge is not to be a permanent fixture on a guitar ,but to be able to be removed.HHG is a great glue but you need to have your gluing technique down. HHG is not the hide glue you see in a bottle, we are talking flakes that we mix outselves. Guitars have parts that are designed to be sacrifical , like the bridge plate. Necks and bridges are also designed as to be removed to reset as the bodies geometry as the guitar changes over time.

why do you need to laminate the 1/8 piece to your bridge?
In the picture it looks like your bridge is the right thickness, 3/8" ?
in the event you do need to laminate it I believe youd want a permanent glue.
Not hide glue or other heat sensitive glue.
where you'd want the reversible glue on the bridge/top joint not on the lamination.

When I demensioned my bridge blank I went to thin so I laminated the thin piece to the blank to make up the difference. I did use HHG to glue bridge to the body(first time ever using it also). The two pieces laminated together gave my about 7/16 in bridge height. I've learned a lesson about doing such for and important part of the guitar....next time i'll use one solid piece for this. I know I could've taken the thin strip off of the body and made a whole new bridge but I spent quit a bit of time making that bridge and wanted to try and use it.
So far I have the guitar strung up to pitch and everything is holding up.... This is only my second acoustic build so there is still much to learn.

7/16" is pretty high. I think most are 5/16-6/16", I use 5/16". You may find it is very heavy with Ebony. Of course you can't change that without changing the neck angle.

There is nothing wrong acoustically with a laminated bridge.
