Sorry folks I posted this first in the wrong section. If I understand correctly from John Hall's post I add .125 to the scale length to arrive at a measurement to the front of the saddle. I have the LMI Martin style bridge and will likely use medium gauge strings on my 24.9" 000 style guitar.?

I put the front edge on the high E right at scale length. Which I think makes sense with a compensated nut (which I use).

When all else fails, clean the shop.

The higher up the neck you play the more you need to compensate. I use a .100 saddle. I set the .125 using the line of the 1st string. With this using medium strings and an action height of 3/32 you will be able to compensate the saddle and get intonation 100% across the strings. If you use a light gauge use .100 .
You can use a .125 saddle if you wish , I can't hear a difference. I do use Bone nuts and saddles.

Hi, are you adding the .125 from the 12th fret to the saddle? Im confused on this one.

I add 2.5 mm (about .100) to the measurement to the centre of the saddle slot (I measure fomr the 12th fret as I comp the nut as well), between the D and G strings - as such, the high E will be about on the scale length at the front edge of the saddle, and the low E wil be back about 3 mm or so. I use a 1/8 inch saddle on most guitars, 3/16 on baritones and multiscales.
