Anyone else have negative emotions about sticking a piece of plastic on the surface you just french polished for a month? No other plastic anywhere on the instrument, then comes this plastic chunk at the end. All the effort for a thin, tone enhancing finish. Must detract a bit tonally.

I don't like them. The playing style of many players does not require them so I often omit. I'm not sure I would do that if I was selling a commercial product though, you never know who will be playing it in a few years time.

I like to use the invisible thin plastic golpeador type pickguards.
