just finished these three.

all are wide necked. 40mm at the nut.

the two As are mahogany/cedar, the mini dread is mahogany/engleman. All three have rosewood fretboards, the two with bound heads have a rosewood headplate salvaged from a coffee table that I rescued from a dumpster.....

the bridge here was my first venture into CNC.... two strings per pin....... and yes, there is about an inch too much between the nut and the headstock..... ah well!!

really pleased with the headstock on this one......

well, there are Banjolins, so why not?

Someone asked if I could make a mando to match hid Gibson Dove Dread guitar so I made this as a "look see" sort of thing, out of bits & pieces I had laying around. he was looking for maple back, sides & neck, but he never came back about it so I wen't on with the hog.

there seem to be a LOT of guitarists who WOULD play mando if only the necks weren't so narrow.

the 40mm nut on these 3 is too wide for me now that I've been playing mando for a couple of years, but it was what got me started making mandos in the first place!

I'm heartbroken.

not for me, but for Lee who commissioned #42 shown above, the one with the spalted maple rosette.

he's just heard from his doctor that due to problems with his elbows he MUST stop playing strummed instruments, so he has to clear out his guitars, and he's asked to withdraw from the deal on buying this mando.

I don't care on a financial level as I'll easily be able to shift it as it's a good looking instrument, but I really feel for him as he worked through this build with me, checking details, making suggestions, and going loopy with praise every time I posted pics on the blog.

He LOVED this thing, even though he hasn't laid a finger on it.
