About 110 board ft of Brazilian purchased (indirectly) from David Crosby.. of that band... can't remember the name. Wood was originally purchased between 1968 to 1972 from MacBeth Hardwoods around San Francisco.

This was one of those.. if you check Craigslist enough times, you'll eventually find a treasure. Found a guy that has built some furniture for David Crosby and was selling the wood for him. Why David Crosby had it isn't super clear. Regardless, there was 67 boards and the vast majority is guitar sized in one form or another. Not too many pieces are crap. Some of the pieces are really nice. One piece has a vintage price written on it in crayon. I figured the bd/ft cost out and it was about $9.50! Fun stuff. Another piece is wide enough to make one-piece backs (16+"). One I get it re-sawn, i'll sell some in the classified section.. Fun, fun..

Awesome...would you consider painting it orange and then shipping it disguised as brazilian Osage Orange to Canada? laughing6-hehe just kidding...

I agree about monitoring Craigslist...while I was not able (yet) to score some Zoot there, I found my mint condition 17" drill press there for $100... bliss

cheers, Christian

I kind of lucked into the same thing back during the 2003 Healdsburg festival. Todd at Allied had just finished cutting up thousands of BF of Brazilian rosewood and had 2 huge bins full of "trash" (Braz not usable for back and sides). I think I was the first one to get to it and I pulled out every board big enough for bindings, bridges or fingerboards. Since I had just bought some Brazilian back and sides he was more than happy to just charge me for the shipping back to my house. Most of it is not pretty or has drying checks but is usable for small stuff. The funny thing is, what didn't get taken was given to one of Todd's friends to be ground up into mulch for his garden. That was expensive fertilizer. :D
