I've had this happen twice on a clean, lightly used Porter Cable 310 I bought off Craigslist last year for a song with a loose fan and a noisy bearing. The plastic fan is press-fitted near the collet end of the shaft. I cant' believe they would press fit a plastic part that spins at what, about 30k RPM. It was off when I bought the 310, and a bearing was toast, presumable because the fan had come loose, wasn't cooling, and the heat-thinned lubricant ran out of the bearing. Put in a new bearing, re-situated the fan. It worked for a couple months, then came off again. Came off again today. I CA'ed it on this time. I thought this was a pretty highly regarded tool, but this fan thing makes me wonder what they were thinking. Anybody else seen this happen?

Pat
