There is dried glue on every pair of jeans you own

You no longer look at the back of sand paper to determine the grit

In the middle of watching Avatar your mind keeps drifting back to how you will cut a difficult new joint

When your nose runs, the color varies from project to project

Your wife complains about wood chips in your bed

You always have a great story when the topic turns to gross injuries

You know you are REALLY a woodworking/guitar making fanatic when you look at "Home Tree" in Avatar and and dream of the figure in that tree and wonder how many sets you could cut from that! wow7-eyes

...When you start looking at high-end furniture and determining the resaw potential.

...when you start evaluating the tap tone of every table in the house

when, at the age of 30, you have stockpiled enough wood to last you well into retirement at your current build rate.

When you make OLF your home page.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

........ you encourage your children to play as many instruments as possible just so you have an excuse to build one.

When your wife needs to talk face to face with you any other time than dinner she has to go to the shop.

Your wife thinks you love your guitars and shop more than her. (Don't make me choose) just a joke.

When you accompany her to Target, Walmart, etc... you always look for kitchen gadgets on sale I.E., spaghetti slicers, electric plastic lid crock pots, etc...

Now that she knows you can build guitars and finish them beautifully she keeps a list of things to build or refinish in the house.
Forcing you to explain the economics of buying or building something.

I love these!

You pick a splinter out of the cutoff bin to pick your teeth and stop because you think, "I could use that somewhere."

Your shop is the size of a closet, you don't own a vehicle, you can't even run 220 into your building because of your landlord and yet you still insist on torturing yourself by checking the BOYD on www.owwm.org every single day.

I brace one side of my bread for my sandwiches with mustard, using a 7 fan brace Torres pattern. Sometimes I go the extra mile and scallop them to the bread.

- When instead of tossing old yogurt containers into recycling, you wash them, then save 'em for mixing epoxy.
- When you love the smell of hot hide glue.

...you continually create enough wood shavings to landscape the yard....in different colored woods!!!

the dog now prefers wood shavings on his blanket....feels more at 'home'...

If you cut yourself with a chisel your first priority is to make sure there is no blood on the guitar, then you see how deep it is.
