Hi Everyone! Thought I'd initiate my first post and just introduce myself.

After apprenticing with Jean Larrivee in the mid '70s followed by building a couple of hundred guitars under my own name, I took a brief hiatus from full-time building (twenty years!) with a foray into music retail ... but the itch to build came back and I opened a new shop recently. Just got a site up and running (limping?) at http://www.wrenguitarworks.com if anyone's interested.

In any event ... I've been following things on the forum for a couple of months. There are sure a lot of very talented, well informed and just plain nice folks here ... just thought I'd say hi!

David Wren :D :D :D

Welcome David. Great website, & any enthusiast in the Toronto region likely knows the great range of instruments at theTwelfth Fret. I'll value your input a lot.

Welcome aboard Dave ... I can honestly say that you helped my career immensely with your insight and belief in what I was doing. Thanks for the link on your new site ... it was not expected when I went there to visit and see what you were up to. You are truly a class act. I was sad to see you leave the fret, but you havent strayed very far.

Looking forward to seeing some of your new handywork in Montreal next week. Bravo.

Welcome indeed David!!

We are very fortunate to have David along with us. I think his intro is really pretty humble! David not only apprenticed with Larrivee, he did so along side Laskin and Manzer! Also, while with the 12th Fret he knows exactly what a world class instrument is. And to top it all off, he is a SUPER guy!

Hey guys ... thanks very much for the welcome ... very much appreciated for sure! It's fun to be back at the bench. Man, a LOT has changed since I was doing it in the '70s and '80s ... all for the good too. Lots to catch up on and lots of rust to shake off the tools (and my brain). Again, thanks for the welcome!!!

Hi David,

I'd like to add my welcome to the rest. Great to have you on the forum.

I brought one of my first guitars into the 12Fret shortly after I started building 6 years ago. You were nice enough to look it over for me and give me some tips. I've been a long time admirer of you work and I think your website looks great! I'll stop by your booth and say hi next week in Montreal.

Josh

Hello David and Welcome,

You sold me my Eastman 615 F when I drove down from up North in 2006.
In fact, I was there just last week and Mike G sold me a new ( GREAT) D28.
It has the bluegrass drive in folds.
It was almost insane with customers as it is on most given days.
This is the virtue of being a well respected shop.
I think you will find on this site many people that you have dealt with at one time or another.

Cheers

Thanks again everyone for the nice welcome!!! See some of you in Montreal? My computer melted down on Thursday and the SD card in my camera decided it wouldn't do anything without being reformatted (ie. wiping out all the files on it) on Friday ... so I'm not sure what I'll have for promo material [headinwall] ... but what the heck. Should be fun! :D

Hello Dave!
Nice site .
It's nice to have another oldtimer on board.
In other words someone who made guitars way back when !
When the knowledge bank was almost empty .
Learn by doing !

Can't wait to read your posts !

Wonderful website!
Looking forward to meeting you at the Montreal show.
I also bought a guitar from you way back.
