Phillipo, Here is an earlier thread about guitar storage and various rack mounts.

I still like the extruded slat stock from Sears. I have made my own slatwall stock in the past and you really have to limit it to a 12" wide x 48" lg. piece of stock with 3 slots spaced at 3" so that it can be easily handled on a router table. For the best results you should first route a straight slot using a 3/8" bit followed by the t-slot bit. Good luck, YMMV

id be too embarresed to show you mine
the only thing id say is if its near the door make
it so it wont poke some strangers eye out
also i would put them closer togther and have a walled/cushioned system
i made sure to not get the domino effect by making the space of a guitar
in between each one ....but wasted too much space

I used that system with wall anchors for 25 guitars in a 6x8 closet where I taught guitar. The guitars were used 2 or 3 times a day for 10 years. All guitars were still playable after 10 years, because of those hangers I'm convinced. I thought their cost was excessive at the time, but now I'm a believer. Not exactly what you are describing, but close.
