Chris honestly I would not use that neck with this body unless there is a problem or a flaw that requires a sunburst. I would save it for a guitar that requires a sunburst, the wood in this one is nice enough for me to not want to see it covered. idunno

In other words I think that the body deserves a non-burst neck.

I've never really liked bursts, but I could easily see the whole neck black, not just most of it.

I'm with Douglas on this one. All black, or a lot more subtle. I find the transition from clear coat to black, too abrupt & there's too much black overall, for my eyes.
The small area on the heel needs to be black too. Kinda looks like you "missed a spot".
It might be cool if you sanded back the black to feather it in more...
Just my opinion...

Exactly how it strikes me...

if i were you, i would sand it down to bare wood, and keep building the finish up as a filler, sanding until it's level.
a fine finisher told me to do it that way, and it works!
seems a lot of folks have trouble with that epoxy filler.
that guitar bod doesn't want an s.b. neck, imo.

I like it, Chris...I've made a few of these small guitars and yours seems to have the requisite MOJO. The top would be cool with a burst as well. Go for subtle IMO.

When do you plan to have it strung up?
