I saw the post that included the question about the sand flee and i to was wondering if anyone has use it . I cant see it working well to thin plates but i have been wrong plenty before.

Interesting tool, would not touch one for lutherie, and as a gift, I would probably not even try it, just right to craigslist. The main issue is that what we call a jointer and a planer, are really surface planer and thickness planer. The flee is a surface planer, can smooth a surface, perhaps even true it up, but it cannot make surfaces parallel, as a thickness planer does. You would not be able to accurately make something dimensional, or .100 of an inch across the surface. If you were making fancy dovetail jewelry boxes, where dimension does not matter, it would work for that. For the money, there are still drum sanders, and for real fun, for that money, some Lie Nelsons, toothed blade, nice dial indicator, scrapers, bench dogs, even vacuum clamps would be within the budget.
