I made a trip to Lowes and they have the electric charcoal starters on sale for $5.99. This is the type that could be used to heat a homemade side bending hot pipe. I haven’t actually done it yet but I picked one up to give it a try. They are usually $9.99 which is better than most places but at $5.99 that is a bargain and worth the experiment.

That's a good buy. Might be worth buying a back-up!
