Some of the bindings I have been doing require that I tape them on dry and wick in CA. The problem I am having is the CA gets on the tape and dissolves the mastic in the tape making it a horribly difficult mess to remove. I have thought about trying acetone to remove the tape mastic from my top and sides but have been afraid it will leach the mastic further into the wood. What is the best way to deal with this.

Seal everything with de-waxed super blond shellac and then scrape/sand before you apply finish. You should be doing that anyhow to prevent tear out when removing the binding tape.
