I'm trying to find a cheaper case for guitars based on the Romanillos/Aram plan. I know that Ameritage could fix me up, but I'd like to find an average case in the $100 or so range - some average molded plastic or ply case. The guitar rattled around in all the cases I just checked out at the local GC.

The guitar as a 14" lower bout, a 10-3/4" upper bout, and a body length of 19-1/8".

I've had the same problem with generic cases. The one that I found worked well for me, is the cheapo "Musician's Friend" classical guitar case (which they seem to have re-named Silver Creek classical case: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessor ... 5000001000

The other, which I ended-up using as my standard case for new builds, is the Humicase Metro Pro.

Humicase is distributed by Cordoba Music in California, although you can find it online through various retailers.

Both Humicase and Silver Creek/Musician's Friend, hand a nice, "piston fit" for my plantilla. Other cases that I've tried were too large.

I hope this is helpful, and I that I did not violate some no "brand name" rule. I do not hold any financial interest in these case manufacturers/distributors, and am in no way trying to advance their products over anyone else's. This was just my experience in trying to find a generic-size, factory case that fits.

Alex - Thanks. Distributors for the Hiscox cases in North America are few and far between - one in Quebec. I'll try to give them a call.

Peter - Thanks for those leads too. I think the Musicians Friends case may be a hair closer fit than the smallest case I looked at at GC today (those were all molded cases) - There is still 3/4" slop in the lower bout, but I may see what they are like.

Good luck. I've been buying Cedar Creek Cases, and recently bought a couple of the Bam High Tech Foam, zipper cases. They offer some pads to modify the case to fit, and four of them, one on each side of the waist satisfies the problem. However, the cases are about $200. They are nice though, and light weight.

Not sure where the pads come from, but I'm sure they would work in other similar cases, like the Access Cases. It's not the same as a custom case, but it's pretty nice.

TKL's molded classical case I think is a good fit for this smaller pattern.
These are the most protection for the buck I think and can be had from various sources for under $100. (I paid $89. for the last one I ordered).

Case preference is highly individual so my policy is to offer the TKL molded case as standard and allow the cost of this case off the price of the instrument if a client wants to supply another case of their own choice.

Finding a case for this guitar has been harder than building the guitar! (And I like it, and don't plan to stop anytime soon.)
