I just got it finished and strung up. I was afraid that it would sound like a trombone or a sax, but it sounds like a guitar and pretty good. I'm real happy with the sound. It is an OM with walnut back and sides. Walnut and curly maple laminated neck. Sitka top with ebony binding and headplate. Thank you to all the OLFers for all of your help. Pals, Vic

Congratulations! So are you able to stop at one, or are you getting ready for your next?

I'm in the beginning of my first. Also an OM with ebony fretboard/headstock. Great choice! I hope mine turns out as nice! [xx(]

That's one really nice guitar. Well done!
What's next?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
