Been googling all day and I've found two (at least) ways to set up a bending jig. Both use metal tubes to hold the two side profiles apart but one uses the metal tubes as the form with the slats/blanket/wood riding on the tubes.

Here's a link showing that design - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U39AC-FB4-I

The others uses the wood of the profile as a form with the metal tubes supplying some support but most the bending is done on the wood itself - I think. http://www.bluescreekguitars.com/shop/i ... cts_id=208

Is there a superior method? It seems most materials are spec'd at 6" so this seems a logical width but each method would yield a different width jig. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks Todd,

I think I can visualize the 3 plies with spacers which would follow that the wood/slats follow the three form pieces and I assume would not have any metal tubes involved. Solid mold? Maybe you can point me in a the right direction for that concept did not come across that in the day's searches.

Wow Alex, I have a feeling a lot of these are old threads and old knowledge to lot of the members but that link is a large piece of gold to me. I can't see myself leaving there for quite awhile.

Thanks so much for the heads up.
