I got a Martin DM in for repair and I need to adjust the truss rod. Frank Ford's site shows a picture of what looks like a DM and says it takes a 5MM allen wrench. That doesn't work and from what I see it looks like a small nut on a threaded rod. A 1/4" nut driver is too big and I don't have anything smaller that is long enough to go in the slot. Could I be looking at a broken off Allen head? It's a little hard to see in there.

what year ? They changed the rod in about 2008 but it is 5mm after than 1/4 in before.
If you see a nut that ain't a Martin. Martin always used a barrel nut.
Post a pic

Thanks for the info about the barrel nut, John. After getting some better lighting and a little bit of thought duh I realized that there wasn't any barrel nut at all. Luckily I had one for the rods I sometimes make and it fit fine.

the old 1 way rod is right behind the brace above the soundhole. On the new 2 way it is was back into the neck block. That is also a barrel nut but very hard to see. It is about 1/4 out of the neck and way in the neck block
