I was studying the plans for the J 45 neck and realized I've only ever fitted a neck on a flat neck block before. The slope shoulder plan looks as though there is a very soft curve at the neck join. I'm interested in how best to handle this....just trace it from the profile of the actual box it's going to be attached to?

Once the profile is transferred to the 14th fret level of the neck, how do you actually carve or sand that profile on the neck joint ?

My Slope D mold is flat at the neck block area, but I still do as Todd describes. This method results in very nice neck joints and aids in establishing the neck/body centerline.
