I'm sorry if someone has posted about this before.
I just used the Ryan A4 Sp. Cedar linings on a cutaway.
NICE!
Even if they break they go back together with no sign or clue of a break.

I put them around some tight bends-no problem!

Plus their Zip-Flex is nice to use also.
Has anyone else tried these products?

Haven't used those linings, but they look very nice. Petros sells a similar product that is a bit less expensive.

Actually, it looks like the Petros stuff is about $40, while the Ryan A4 is about $30. They both look pretty cool, but I'm waiting for some kind of 'spray in' lining. No need for kerfs.

I have been using the A-4 linings for my last 8 guitars. Love them for both the ease of use and the look inside the guitar. Great stuff. Bends in every direction, stretches, compresses, but when glued to sides give s good stiff rim. Could easily be capped with a veneer to stiffen even more.

I suppose you could just use a thickened epoxy fillet, but I don't think it would do the sound any good!

Ya, I definitely want to try it. Looks like Petros tried to copy the Grumpy kerf (of wich he says he's not giving up his technic). I tried to copy it too but have yet to put it in a guitar. It's not a time saver but it looks and works well.

It appears to be 1/2" thick total of 3 angle kerfed strips. Should be very stiff.

Just a quick follow-up on the A4 linings. I used them on my latest build and I am completely sold on them. They went in very clean with absolutely no squeeze out. With the spreader system that I use, the pita that saves is enough for me but these linings also look awesome. Be careful, they are fragile until you get them installed. Great product!

Similar linings to the A4 are SO easy to make on a cnc...

Hey Don,
Since Kevin came out with the A4 liners I've seen a number of people attempt to copy them. So far I've seen some copies that are functionally the same (flex in all directions), but none of them have come close to being as nice and clean as the real A4. Are you making something similar on your CNC? Kevin's are all done with a laser and any design I've thought of making on my CNC would not be near as neat. The kerfs would certainly be a lot wider and due to the time it would take to rout them I figure I am way ahead to just buy the A4.

I switched to the A4 liners shortly after Kevin started offering them, I've been extremely happy with them and can't see going back to anything else.

looks like 1/2" noodle board to me (aka bender plywood) with a round over on it...
