IKG = Interminable Kit Guitar

About 13 years ago, I started thinking I wanted to build guitars. I didn't have internet access, but I found Campiano's book at Barnes and Noble and proceeded to study it, write lists of tools to buy, and dream of the day..
In 2005 I bought a serviced OM kit from LMI, thinking I'd build it with hand tools, but never got started because of work and other obligations. In 2009 I decided I would jump in, but I wanted to build from scratch, so built an OM under another luthier's guidance. Now I REALLY wanted to build, but I just couldn't get fired up for building a serviced kit. So I've driveled along with it, doing a bit here and there while waiting for glue to dry on the scratch OM and 4 ukes, and FINALLY today finished the setup.
UGH!
Anyway, the neck is heavy, and it's nothing special to look at. The EIR back and sides are nice wood and the top has some decent silking. I put the Tonerite on it, and we'll see how it sounds. It intonated well, and I got some practice with setup and fretwork, and finishing, so it was an okay experiment. The neck and action feel good when playing.
I attached a few pictures.

Interminable no longer. I think you did very well.

Looks good from where I'm sitting, Beth...

Remember, kit or not, that's a guitar that you made, and no one else has one.... :)

I think that's the best part of building to me....

I bet it sounds better than any less than mega-buck factory guitar. Looks good too.

There are so many skills with guitar building, I think it's silly to discredit an instrument because you didn't slot & radius the fingerboard, cut out & carve the neck, bend the sides, blah, blah, blah... Not do discredit these steps, but IMO, even assembling a serviced kit to a playable instrument that sounds better than something one buys at GC for $2000+, is very worthwhile!

Congratulation, enjoy it, you have a new guitar!

Well done, and not to be diminished is the perseverance needed to finish an interminable project!
That will yield large results.
Hey, you should send a pic to the team at LMI. Let them know their wood went to good use.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! And especially, thanks for all the great advise and support. No way I'd even have ONE finished without this community.

Sweet guitar, Beth!
The finish looks quite lovely.
I've never attempted an acoustic build because I lack an important skill: patience.
Keep 'em coming!
Dan

Thanks guys! I've had the Tonerite on it for a few days and it definitely sounds better than when first strung (no big surprise there I guess). It actually sounds good to me...certainly a lot better balanced than the first one I made with help :)
