Can anyone help I want to convert a pencil sketch of a body shape into a CAD drawing?

Thanks

John

One suggestion: scan it, crop the image down to the exact outline width & body length, then paste that into cad. Draw a box (in cad) in a new layer, sized width by body length, and fit the scanned image exactly into it. Now you can trace your drawing.

You can also lay a grid of say 1 inch lines over your pencil drawing and measure the intersections of your lines on the grid. Then transfer that to a construction grid on your cad drawing.

I drew some pictures of a guitar while in the back seat of my dad's Buick while heading south. So I guess that you could do it in a Cadillac.

I've done the scan, and I've done the grid, but I've never done it in a Cadillac!
Was that Geranimo's Cadillac, or was it pink? laughing6-hehe

This is one of the best ways to do it. If you look on YouTube, you should find some tutorials on how to do this. Working with splines can be challenging and takes practice to learn how to make your curves nice and smooth and look good. Different CAD tools handle splines slightly differently as well so try to find a tutorial for your CAD tool in particular.

Also, only make half and mirror it if your shape has any symmetry to it. You can always trim the areas that aren't symmetrical.
