The accuracy is perfectly good for a non engineers true straight edge. Certainly good enough for Guitar related stuff. I presume the quoted accuracies are minimum.

The 24" Veritas steel straightedge is one of my most valued tools. Gets used a lot!!

I bought an 24" aluminum one a long time ago to have a "rough" guage I didn't need to baby and it has worked well for guitar work. If I was to do it again I would spring at least for the steel one.

The 1/4" face is too thin for things like leveling frets etc... I use it more as a visual reference.

Danny : Have an aluminum one from Lee Valley but not the one you show.......think it is an earlier version. Works OK........but how do we know they are really straight? Takes a couple of other references to assure ourselves of that fact. But most are surely good enough for guitar work. Steel is my preferred but they are a bit heavier and have more inertia.......tending to make deeper dings on a slip of the hand. I know you don't do things like that ............but your truly has done it many times.

I have two of the aluminum ones (bought first) and two of the Veritas steel ones (later). I never use the aluminum ones now, although I don't know or think that there is anything wrong with them.

I use the 24" steel one, and have been very happy with it.

I am using the LV 38" aluminum and it is quite sturdy. I found better value in the igaging steel straight edges, and have the 12 and 24".
