Based on several high recommendations on this forum, I bit the bullet and ordered the books from the only source I could find...the one in Australia. I used paypal and it seemed like I was shifted to another distributor to receive the paypal, and it had total charges at 159USD, instead of 200AUSD?? Then, the final page was back to 200USD plus 100USD for australian shipping??

I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about the whole transaction, and the increased shipping costs (from 50 to 100) since last time I checked.

Anyone else have these issues? I used paypal, so I am comfortable that things will either work, or will be reconciled by them. Either way, not thrilled about paying a Ben Franklin for shipping!

Perhaps take it up with Trevor directly - I think he would be very interested if his shopping cart had any anomalies....and would make it right with you.
I agree.... a hundred bones for shipping does not sound quite right....
Nonetheless, these were the best purchase of 2014 for me....

With the Aussie dollar the way it is at the moment $200 Au seems to be about right at $159 Us. Can't help with the shipping though.

David, I can't find any evidence of a transaction under your name, so maybe you bailed out.

If you're having problems with the website, please let me know and I'll get it fixed, and sort out any residual issues you may have. It seems to be OK at the moment, as far as I can tell. It's worked pretty faultlessly for ~3.5 years now and you're right, shipping should be AU $45. You may see some numbers translated to US $, but I can't check that from Aus.

You can email me via the Contact page on my website and we can fix up a different payment method if you wish.

Thanks Trevor! I did get an emailed receipt/confirmation. Looks like the final paypal is listed in AUS, which seems odd, but the $100 I though was high, ended up translating into around 45 in USD.
Hopefully all sorted out--Can't wait for the books, and thanks for your reply!

Did you purchase from "guitar Woods" rather than Trevor's site?
This is the business that Gerard Gilet ran before retiring.

Looks like Paypal went to Wheeler Lutherie. I just followed the purchase link form the Gilet/Gore website, and it directed payment to Wheeler. I got purchase receipts and it looks like everything is sorted out ok. Probably more my inexperience with overseas purchasing and exchange policies through PP.

There is no Gilet/Gore website, as such. There is Gore Guitars (as below) and Darrell Wheeler's site. Darrell took over Gerard Gilet's business at Botany when Gerard retired from it. It would seem that you were dealing with Darrell's site, as Jeff suggested.

All's well that ends well! It only took five days to get books all the way from Australia. That's faster than I've gotten things from Ohio!
After first pass, to say I'm impressed is a terrible understatement. These books are high quality binding and print, with great color photos.
That's not to mention the content! Thanks to Trevor, and those who gave recommendations on this forum.
