Hi

Well finally finished my dreadnought !!

Thanks to all for help answering my many questions .. this site is a real goldmine for everyone especially a newbie like me

Heres some pics ..its not a patch on the guitars i have seen on here... but learnt loads .. oh and it sounds good too :)

Might even build from scratch next time (prepare for loads more questions)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
