I have an older kunz convex spokeshave frankly it/s hard to use and adjust except for minor work. I have the LN flat and concave spokeshaves which I enjoy. Have any of you used the LN or LV convex spokeshave and if so what do you use it for in guitarmaking ??? Thanks :D

I have a convex Spokeshave, it's an older Stanley. I think I bought it over 30 years ago thinking that I would need it, probably for trimming the Back/Soundboard overhang.
I can't remember ever using it for Guitar making! In fact I don't think I've ever used it except to try it out on a bit of wood.
I do have the little 'contour' plane (wooden spokeshave) from Taiwan? I use that for the Neck, brilliant little thing once you get the blade sharp. You can tap the blade at one side so that it gives different depths of cut, fine or medium. I suppose you can do the same with the metal adjustable type as well. I have a flat Stanley also but I haven't used it since getting the wooden version.

I also got the contour planes from Lee Valley and like them very much. Looks like they have been discontinued... Just thought I'd interject... I don't use a convex spokeshave...

Have the chinese $10 wood convex spokeshave but have it set up for vy fine cuts The Kunz has a large mouth opening so it is only suitable for larger rough cuts. Seems the LN is more a smoothing /finishing spokeshave ??
