Made this for a friend, just thought I would let people see it as I've just got a commission for the last sister set.
Satinwood seems to make an excellent tonewood, just wish there was a bit more of it about. :(

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Wonderful ! Here in Portugal there seems to be quite some satinwood available, specially near cabinet making clusters, but it's a trouble to find the quartered , mottled stuff. I love how it looks, even if it's a PITA to work.

Really gorgeous. I have a few sets I have yet to use. not that nice though. It is hard to find in guitar sizes.
