Second one of these I have built, first time using padauk. Neck is plain maple which I tried to dye to tie it all together. Hipshot tuners which are great if a little bulky. Open pore satin finish with osmo polyx oil

Very happy with the initial sound but day job getting in the way of being able to play it!

Yummy. I'll bet it has a nice, rich sound!

How's about a head on shot (front elevation) of the whole guitar?
Honestly I can't see it properly and I went dizzy.
(Love parlors)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
