I bought a mystery back and sides set for very cheap from a seller who couldn't remember what it was. It's very nice looking wood, but I don't recognize it. The "OIXF" written on it isn't any help as far as I can tell. Any ideas? The plate on the right below was wiped with naptha.

That is ovangkol. That set originally came from me. I'm not sure who you bought it from, but it definitely is a set I cut.

Thanks Aaron. I was actually wondering if it might be one of yours based on the way it's labelled. It's great looking wood and I'm looking forward to using it.

Definitely looks like ovangkol, like on this headstock:

This wood was a pain in the a$$ to work with (difficult to bend, and very smelly, difficult to thickness by handplane because the grain seemed to have no direction), but.. the reward is a very nice lightweight guitar!

:D
