I thought this was cool, might be some ideas here as well. Maybe this is old news but I just found it.

Cool. A peaceful, easy feeling kind of woodworking. I think I could use some of that.

That's neat. I am always impressed when I see the work of a master. It looks so easy... But try to go do it yourself.... That guy was probably apprenticed at 10 or 12 or taught at his father's knees...

Unfortunately, first world society does not value those skills.... They don't see the value in doing things by hand when robots and machines can do the "same work" in a factory for a fraction of the cost.... But it's not the same.. There's no variety - just 3 or 5 standard sizes all with the same patterns and appointments.... At that guy's shop - every single box is different.... Different size, different shape, different features, different partern, different inlay, etc.

And in a place like that - you can find "Just the thing"..... Where at the giant retailer selling discount identical factory wares - you settle for "I suppose this will do..."

Thanks

Reminds me of watching Al Carruth demonstrate his technique for making his maple leaf rosettes.

I wonder if I could cover a whole guitar in those veneers. Or maybe he could start specializing in purfling patterns
